Ovid Demonstration Databases
For a complete list of databases available with Ovid, visit the database catalog on the Ovid homepage
In order to illustrate the complete research environment that Ovid makes available, four database subsets
have been chosen to allow bibliographic and full text searching and retrieval. Please note
that this demonstration version features the same advanced functions a librarian or individual can expect
from Ovid Web Online or the Ovid Web Gateway.
- Current Contents® Search Demonstration Database
- The subset contains weeks 27 through 51 of the 1993. Current Contents® provides essential
bibliographic information from the world's leading scholarly research journals in the sciences, social
sciences, arts, and humanities. It is one of the world's most timely current awareness services in the
fields of Agriculture, Biology & Environmental Sciences; Arts & Humanities; Clinical Medicine;
Engineering, Technology & Applied Sciences; Life Sciences; Physical, Chemical & Earth Sciences;
and Social & Behavioral Sciences
- ERIC Demonstration Database
- This contains the database entries from 1966 to 1983. ERIC is a national bibliographic database which
indexes over 775 periodicals dealing with the subject of education. It combines information from two
printed sources: Resources in Education (RIE) and the Current Index to Journals in Education (CIJE).
- MEDLINE Demonstration Database
- This subset contains data for 1993 only. MEDLINE is widely recognized as the premier source for
bibliographic/abstract coverage of biomedical literature. More than 8.5 million records from more than
3,600 journals are indexed.
- Ovid Core Biomedical Collection Demonstration Database
- The full text demonstration subset contains information for 1993, 1994, and January-March 1995. The
Ovid Core Biomedical Collection is Ovid's first full text database collection. Since its release, Ovid
has released the Biomedical Collection II, Biomedical Collection III, and will soon release BC IV, the
Mental Health Collection, and more than 350 journals in the scientific, technical and medical fields. The
Ovid Core Biomedical Collection includes the full text, graphics, tables, and charts from the world's 15
